Homebound Services for Individuals

The Manitowoc Public Library provides materials for cardholders of any age that are unable to visit the library due to a temporary or long term health-related condition. We offer material selection, delivery and pickup services.
Materials are carefully selected to reflect your interests. Volunteers are assigned to each patron for pickup and delivery services to your home or residential living institution.

What can I borrow?

We can deliver large print or regular print books, audiobooks, magazines and music CDs.

When will deliveries occur?

We provide delivery and pickup services once every four weeks.

How will I know I will get materials I enjoy?

We ask you to fill out a Reader Preferences form that helps us determine the authors, genres, and types of materials you prefer. Specific requests are always encouraged.

How do I sign up?

If you are interested in receiving homebound service, please call the Library at 920-686-3040. We will be happy to mail you our application form, or you can use the links provided on this page.

How do I volunteer to deliver materials?

Duties include picking up and delivering library materials to homebound patrons. Deliveries typically take about an hour to complete, and volunteers are scheduled once a month. Homebound Services for Centers

The Manitowoc Public Library provides materials for retirement communities, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. We offer material selection and assembly of collections. Center staff is responsible for the pickup and return of the collections to the Library.

How does it work?

Let us know how many items you would like as well as the type of material. We can provide regular and large print books, audiobooks, magazines, and music CDs. Material is usually checked our for six weeks.

Center staff are responsible for the pickup and return of the collections to the Library once every six weeks.

How do we sign up?

What is the Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library?

WTBBL provides audiobooks to people unable to read or handle print books. Special audio players and much of the content is delivered by mail (free of charge) to the patron. These services are made available by the National Library Service and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Click here to learn more.
