Support the Library?
The Friends of Manitowoc Public Library help focus public attention on the Library and its needs; stimulates the use of existing programs, services, and resources; supports the library in developing and expanding services and facilities for the public; helps to fund special library needs; and provides volunteer services where needed.
The Friends of Manitowoc Public Library was established in 1963 in conjunction with National Library Week and currently have over 200 members. The Friends are governed by a volunteer board of directors, who each serve a three year term.
The benefits of becoming a Friend of Manitowoc Public Library include updates on special events, preview privileges at the annual book sale, the Annual Friends meeting and program, discounts to the Annual Author’s Event, and, of course, helping to maintain an association of people interested in the library and its services to the community. Dues and donations may be tax deductible.
The Friends of Manitowoc Public Library generously sponsor the following events and programs:
- Great Decisions Discussion Series
- Book Discussion Series
- Critic’s Choice Film Series and Sunday Matinee Classics
- Youth and Young Adults Summer Library Programs
- Writer’s Read
- Brown Bag Seminars
Individual annual memberships are available for as little as $10. For your convenience, the Friends of Manitowoc Public Library also offer a life membership for $100.
