Resolve to Make a Difference/”Sam” Springs into Action

Reading is one of the great joys of life for many adults, but it’s something that is beyond the reach of an adult who lacks basic literacy skills.  Working one-on-one with a caring tutor makes a real difference, as it did for “Sam,” an adult learner in our program who had never read a book until last year. Now he and his tutor enjoy reading action novels together. (Please note: this learner’s name has been changed to respect his privacy.)

Literacy has the power to changes lives. This year, why not resolve to make a difference by becoming a volunteer tutor with One-to-One Adult Literacy Partners? You will find a meaningful volunteer experience that makes a real difference in someone’s life!

Registration is now open for our January training for new volunteers. The training will take place on Saturday, January 19 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Manitowoc Public Library. The training is free and all materials will be provided; registration by January 16 is required to attend. To learn more, contact Jo Ann Dent, One-to-One Adult Literacy Partners, at or 920-686-3026.
