While one would hope that the majority of adults in our area are familiar with the ballot forms that we use to vote for our elected officials, there is an interesting question that can be asked regarding them: precisely how does one go about getting their name on said ballot for consideration? Not to mention where someone can turn to find out what positions are open to run for in any given election.

To answer these questions, the League of Women Voters of Manitowoc County and Manitowoc Public Library will be presenting "Running: Getting on the Ballot," a virtual panel discussion.

Participants include Jessica Backus (Manitowoc County Clerk), Jamie Jackson (City Clerk/Two Rivers), and Mackenzie Reed-Kadow (City Clerk/Manitowoc), as well as Darian Kaderabek (Manitowoc Alderperson, District 5). Topics for the clerks will include what each has to offer in terms of requirements, positions available, and procedures to follow in their separate positions. As a recently-elected candidate, Darian will share her experiences with the process, why she wanted to run, and what drove her to continue to pursue public office.

We hope that you'll join us for this informative, community-minded conversation, which will be livestreamed both on MPL’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/manitowoclibrary) and YouTube channel.
