Event Details

Since last summer, Ryan's on York Executive Chef, Andrew Dunbar, has been demystifying the process of cooking restaurant-quality meals at home for you, frequently in the company of his friend and Level 1 Sommelier, Eric Mueller, in his "At Home with Andrew" virtual cooking series. These livestreamed web broadcasts air on both MPL's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/manitowoclibrary) and YouTube channel.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it would be pert nigh impossible to present an "At Home" without turning the spotlight on potentially the most celebrated family meal of the year. However, instead of focusing on the Tryptophan Overlord, Andrew will be setting his sights on the real stars—the sides for which everyone really pulls up to table. And Eric will be on-hand to suggest what wines to call into play for such a diverse array of delectables.

Should you be interested in playing along at home, here's a complete list of all the ingredients that you'll need to have on-hand:

Mac & Cheese

1 Pound Uncooked Elbow Macaroni (approximately 1 ½ cups)

6 Tablespoons Butter

4 Tablespoons Butter

4 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour

1 Teaspoon Salt

¼ Teaspoon Ground White Pepper

3 Cups Whole Milk

1 ½ Cup Half and Half

5 Cups Shredded Cheese (majority cheddar, but mix in other favorites; I’m using Smoked Gouda and a bit of Cream Cheese)

Carrots with Avocado & Mint

1 Teaspoon Cumin

1 Lemon

2 Teaspoons Honey

¼ Cup Olive Oil

1 Serrano Chili (A Jalapeno works if you can’t find a Serrano)

1 Inch Ginger

24 Ounces of Carrots, whole

2 Avocados

½ Cup Mint
