Educator Library Card

What is an Educator Card?

  • Eligible educators can apply for a free Educator Card to check out items for classroom use. Educators then do not have to use personal cards for school/classroom use.
  • Activity on Educator Cards does not affect personal cards and vice versa.

Who can get an Educator Card?

  • Educators who are residents of Wisconsin and can validate employment with a licensed early childhood/childcare center, public or private K-12 school or similar educational organization.
  • Homeschoolers who are residents of Wisconsin (one adult homeschool educator card per family).

How does an Educator Card differ from a regular card?

  • Patrons using Educator Cards can check out up 75 items for eight weeks (rather than the regular three weeks).
  • No renewals are allowed on items.
  • Educator Cards expire every August 15. Cards may be renewed, in person, by providing valid educator identification.

What can be borrowed with an Educator Card?

  • Educator Cards are intended for borrowing items for use by/with students, not items for personal use.
  • All library items can be borrowed EXCEPT: R-rated DVDs, video games and Wi-Fi hotspots.
  • Educator Cards may be used to request interlibrary loan (ILL) items from other libraries. Loan periods may vary.

How do I get an Educator Card?

  • Apply in person at Manitowoc Public Library.
