Your Manitowoc Public Library card gives you access to a multitude of books, DVDs, videogames, and a whole variety of other great items. But, did you know that your card also gives you access to thousands of free eBooks, Audiobooks and Magazines that you can read on your smart device? Just download the free Libby, by Overdrive app and you can start enjoying these fantastic options. If you are new to the world of eBooks and would like some more information about Libby, come to Manitowoc Public Library on Wednesday, February 28, at 5:30 PM for a demonstration and hands-on assistance with the Libby app.
Library staff will help you download the app, show you how to borrow digital material, and answer any questions you have about Libby. Libby is compatible with most smart phones, Kindles, iPads, and many other popular reading devices. Please bring your reading devices to the February program and we will work with you to set up Libby.
I wanted to share some of the wonderful features available with Libby. So, here goes:
- You can download the eBook of your choice and take it with you everywhere you go.
- The audiobooks on Libby have great quality and you’ll never have to worry about lost or scratched discs.
- Enjoy magazines without having to pay subscription fees.
- Everything on Libby is free!
- Your items are returned automatically on the due date, so no late fees ever!
- Search thousands of titles including new books, classics, kids’ books, nonfiction, and every genre (suspense, romance, etc.). There is always something to check out on Libby.

Everyone is welcome to attend and no registration is required for this program. Simply stop by the Balkansky Community Room at Manitowoc Public Library at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, February 28. This demonstration is for people of all levels of experience. It’s the perfect introduction for newcomers and may offer some helpful tips for more experienced users.
Please bring your library card and preferred reading device (smart phone, Kindle, etc.). And have your passwords ready. Apple users will need their Apple ID and password. Kindle users will need their Amazon login and password.
